Plan Options
Use
As an assortment planner, you use options to perform a preliminary planning before you know which products will make up the assortment list for the upcoming season. Early in the assortment planning process, you can approximate how many product choices (or options) you need to offer customers for a given combination of planning attribute values. For example, you might know that in the Men's Pants category you need to give your customers 3 choices of high fashion/high price pants, and 10 choices of medium fashion/medium price pants, before you know exactly the models or product IDs of pants that you will carry in your assortment in the upcoming season.
Using the option planning functionality in SAP Assortment Planning for Retail, you evaluate historical sales data and plan the target number of options and/or the target KPIs by category and attribute value combination. If you have imported data from a merchandise plan into SAP Assortment Planning for Retail, you can also compare your targets to constraints, such as, approved purchase budgets (Open-to-Buy). As you determine the target number of options or the target KPIs, you can allocate these targets to the different modules of the option plan, or, one planning level lower, to the location clusters associated with each of the modules.

You have specified planning attributes in Manage Product Attributes SAP Fiori app.

Result
The resulting option plan can be consumed in the Build Assortment Lists process.

Build Assortment Lists
Use
As an assortment planner, you determine the optimal mix of products to include in an assortment list by analyzing sales and profit metrics, such as sales units or gross margin, for products in your categories.
You begin your analysis by evaluating the profitability of existing products during the reference period. You decide whether to carry over, that is, continue selling, these products into the next season or to drop them. If you want to add new products to your assortment list, you can create placeholder products.
If you are using option plans, you can optimize your assortment list to match the figures planned in the Option Planning Workbooks and assign products to modules. For more information, see Plan Options.
You build assortment lists using My Assortment Lists (Version 2) SAP Fiori app.

Build Assortment Plans
Use
As an assortment planner, you use this process to build assortment plans. An assortment plan defines what products you are going to sell, managed in an assortment list, and where you are going to sell them, managed in a location cluster set.
You build assortment plans using My Assortment Plans (Version 2) SAP Fiori app.
Process
You build an assortment plan by:
- Selecting an assortment list.
- If required, selecting a location cluster set.
- Modifying selections and validity dates.
Result
Use the created assortment plan to generate listings in SAP ERP, as described in Generate Listings (Optional), or to plan sales and product purchase quantities, as described in Refine Assortments and Plan Assortments.
Refine Assortments
Use
As an assortment planner, you refine your assortment by determining which products from the assortment list will be offered to customers at which of selling locations included in the location cluster set.
tip
You can skip this step in the Refine Assortment workbook if you are satisfied with the level of refinement done in the My Assortment Plans (Version 2) SAP Fiori app. You can go directly to the Plan Assortment workbook without using Refine Assortment. The presentation dates and phase-out dates are prepopulated based on the selection of the validity periods in the My Assortment Plans (Version 2) app.

Plan Assortments
As an assortment planner, you plan your assortment for the different locations by using the Plan Assortment Workbook to perform these major steps:
- Plan the KPIs that are necessary to derive purchase orders for your assortment plan.
- Decide which weeks receive Receipt Units after looking at the purchasing-relevant KPI values that are distributed to fiscal periods.
After you have completed the planning, export the KPI values to allow for the creation of purchase orders.
