The Open Catalog Interface (OCI) is useful in case customers would like to increase the service level and responsiveness to their internal customers, to deal with clearly defined services and materials, to use the advantages of feature description and picturing within web-based catalogs and to integrate services and materials from different vendors easily.
Consider streamlining the customers processes by enhancing the MM/PM/CS/PS applications with a catalog interface.
Customers are using electronic catalogs during the procurement cycle. The catalogs can be hosted in the intranet, at supplier site or at market place, from where materials (components) and services can be choosen. Various catalogs can be connected to the applications.
Procurement in this matter can be done with transactions of
- Materials Management MM in purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Plant Maintenance PM in service orders
- Project System PS in network orders
- Customer System CS in service orders
In lower releases than ECC6 either no (in MM) or restricted functionality compared to ECC6 for catalog connection via OCI (Open Catalog Interface) is available.
